Draw Near: A Lenten Invitation to Lay Down Shame and Embrace Intimacy with God

This Lent, journey with us as we lay down shame and accept God’s invitation to draw near. We will be guided by seven extraordinary saints, each of whom shines their own particular light on the path before us: St. Irmã Dulce Pontes in twentieth-century Brazil, Servant of God Catherine Doherty in twentieth-century Canada, Blessed Miguel Pro in twentieth-century Mexico, St. Teresa of Ávila in sixteenth-century Spain, Venerable Henriette DeLille in nineteenth-century New Orleans, Venerable Nguyễn Văn Thuận in twentieth-century Vietnam, and Blessed Stanley Rother in twentieth-century Guatemala. As we reflect on these holy women and men, we will also remember our own call to holiness as we meditate on selections from Pope Francis’ powerful encyclical Gaudete et Exsultate (On the Call to Holiness in Today’s World).
